StreetKORE Project: XS650 Brat

Somehow these little Yamaha twins keep popping into my life. We had the crazy mutant hardtail, drag bike, StreetCHOPPER thing. That ultimately turned into an unrideable waste of time. There was the cafe, streetfighter, StreetRACER project that never got finished because someone bought it along with the yard find rust bucket. This time my good buddy found one in fairly good shape that ran well for all of 3 hours before he realized the entire electrical system was crap. About 3 months ago we replaced everything with a PMA swap and Pamco unit and it's run well ever since. Then he sold the CB400T hardtail project and dumped some money into this one. After totaling the Savage Brat in an accident last year he has been jones'n for another Brat Style ride. Enter XS650 project number 4. This one is on the road and running well though. Follow along as we take a perfectly good motorcycle and cut it it bits...

Savage Brat

Project for my buddy Little Mikey. He scored a deal on this very clean example of an 88 Suzuki Savage 650. It was in a 9 out of 10 condition. He rode it around for a few days and then we got the motivation to chop it up. Brat inspired styling cues and a $0 budget for mods. Rear was lowered 2 inches by moving the lower shock mounts, rear fender from a CB400T that was leftover from his Cafe project, I welded up some funky narrow T bars from an old Drag bar that was floating around. Quick tune up and a couple hours reading through www.SuzukiSavage.com for some no cost tuning mods got it running right. Great little bike to bomb around town on. Makes me want one for myself, lol. Still a work in progress. Updates to come. 

CB400T

Finally getting back to the little Honda after months of it being, literally, Shelved. Last Saturday we did some brain storming and figured there was no better time then the present to start getting it back together. It's a very simple build that is reusing much of the original parts, but that's the beauty of it. There's not a lot to the bike to begin with, and we've managed to get it down to 2 wheels an engine and a seat.

This is the quick mock up with the seat rails tacked in. Front forks have been lowered 2", scratch built clip-ons XS650 gas tank, the stock front fender moved to the back.

The majority of the hardtail was finish welded last night. Still need to add the cross braces and clean up the axle plates before it gets painted and put back together.
