XS650 Street CHOPPER Update

In a bitter sweet turn of events the Street CHOPPER is getting finished. Unfortunatley it's heading out the door to it's new owner very shortly. Someone made an offer I couldn't refuse and it's been an all out thrash session getting her together over the past week.

Started with a +3 up +3 out Big Twin Rigid frame. Hacked all the motor mounts out and retro fitted new ones to hold an XS650 lump. The HD style neck was cut out and replaced with one sized for the R1 front end. While I was at it the rake was brought in for more respectable handling. From 38* now at 27* and also brought the frame in 1". Rear wheel is from a ZX7. Tank is an unknown 70's era dirtbike tank that's been modified.

Still a bit of fit and finish to do, but it's gona fire up for the first time tomorrow. Get some video of it when it finally breaths fire.

Acquired a new toy for the shop the other day. Totally stoked. Now we can get down to some serious business. Big THANKS to Chris@Pain Inc. for the killer hook up. He's been a serious supporter and contributor to getting things rolling for StreetKORE over the years. Can't thank him enough.

New tooling is on order and there's a bunch of prototyping to get turning. Stay tuned for some killer new parts from StreetKORE in the very near future.

First up. The latest from RAD Ducati. Absolutely love their bikes, and really dig'n the styling on this one.

Unsure of the builder, but it's based on a Suzuki Goose 250. Gorgeous work.

Kraus Motor Co. newest build. Another stunning example of thinking outside the box, while mixing old and new design. Shovelhead motor, Fox Air adjust shocks all around. Aluminum bodywork, Brass plated frame!?, and stainless steel accents. Beautiful.

Ran across this recently and absolutely fell in love with it. If there was one good thing that came out of the '80's it was killer Endurance bikes. Some of the innovations that were dreamed up for suspension and chassis design were engineering masterpieces. Even if the ideas didn't take to the mass market.

Yamaha delivers the latest design from Guy Fior. A machine built according to avant-garde design for a team committed to having a motor bike this year to compete in the World Championship . The biggst difference here is the exchange of the Honda RS engine for a Yamaha 1100. Directly prepared in Japan, and provided by Yamaha Amsterdam with the assistance of Sonauto (Conk having particular influence with the cycle parts) This engine delivers approximately 130 hp @ 9500 rpm, and has had it's original shaft final drive system replaced with a more traditional chain.

Good fuelling is ensured by two twin-choke carburettors with horizontal bodies, manufactured by Mikuni under Solex licence. Dual ignition utilises two original electronic systems in parallel. A wet sump lubrication system is retained. However, not all is original: The clutch has a hydraulic control and the gearbox box is of racing type. The original double cradle frame has been replaced for more rigidity, the engine is suspended from the framework by its cylinder head. Side suspension, one finds the original achievements of Conk, with single Koni shock absorber and drives out adjustable by eccentric with the front one. Koni adjustable shock absorber in relaxation and compression also for the back system cantilever. In full race trim with fuel & oil on board, the Conk special tips the scales at 195 kg

CB750K Resto Mod Project

Back in November a gentleman gave me a call regarding a resto project around a '76 CB750K he was interested in buying. After a couple short phone conversations, He and his newly purchased bike wind up on the shops door. The CB was a good runner. Obviously used regularly by the PO and had some basic mods and a home done metal flake green spray bomb job over all the tins. After giving it the once over it was established the bike over all was a solid foundation. Just needed some basic maintenance and some TLC to make into a nice bike again. The original idea was to try and bring the bike back to original factory condition. A second parts bike was sourced a few days later for a bargain price and dropped off the following day. Unfortunately, the original intention of the parts bike was to scavenge what was supposed to be "perfect" Chrome. Once face to face with our donor we were more then disheartened. But regardless, the price was right and there was still quite a bit of usable parts available. So forward we went. Little by little the 2 bikes were disassembled picking and choosing the best parts of the bunch to create one good bike again.

With much of the desired replacement parts in bad shape, and the cost of chrome out of the customers budget. We decided to lean the project more in a resto mod direction. Then the real work began. The entire bike was stripped down to the frame. The original paint removed, surface rust sanded out, primed and repainted Gloss Black.

Pretty much everything was repainted Gloss Black, minus the engine, which was treated to a coat of Semi Gloss. The Chrome engine covers where retained and the valve cover, stator cover badge and fins given a brushed finish.

Instead of the original chrome 4 piece exhaust, we stuck with the MAC 4-1 system. The badly pitted chrome fenders were resurfaced and panted Gloss Black. The aftermarket superbike bars were retained, as well as the HD black and chrome shocks. A vintage Travlecade seat replaces the factory unit. The Comstar wheels, Dual disk front breaks and air forks that the PO installed have been retained for the time being. The entire project was completed in 4 days. From tear down, refinishing, repairing small issues such as clutch rebuild, brake rebuilds all around, rewiring the entire bike, And completing a full top to bottom service, and reassembly.

Finally getting back to the little Honda after months of it being, literally, Shelved. Last Saturday we did some brain storming and figured there was no better time then the present to start getting it back together. It's a very simple build that is reusing much of the original parts, but that's the beauty of it. There's not a lot to the bike to begin with, and we've managed to get it down to 2 wheels an engine and a seat.

This is the quick mock up with the seat rails tacked in. Front forks have been lowered 2", scratch built clip-ons XS650 gas tank, the stock front fender moved to the back.

The majority of the hardtail was finish welded last night. Still need to add the cross braces and clean up the axle plates before it gets painted and put back together.

New progress on the Street CHOPPER. R1 front end is in with Vortex top clamp and bars. Swapped in the rear wheel from a ZX7. Started chopping away the lugs and brackets to start making new ones for the the engine and tank mounts.

Customer brought in a Shovel Head with a 93"cid S&S. He thought the rocker boxes were leaking. Once it was apart the real problem became obvious. Note of caution, stroker motors and fat bobs may not be the best idea.

So I had good intentions to keep the blog updated regularly, but I've been a slack ass about it. For good reason though. Been a busy couple weeks in the shop. I won't complain about that. Been working on everything from $40K Borget Customs to tuned up CRF50's to Chinese scooters. I hate scooters BTW. Money is money and we all need it, but I find scooters soulless and evil. I'll save that rant for another day. Couple of neat projects in the works though. The Savage Brat is getting some more custom work that is turning out well. Also have 2 CB750's sitting in the shop for a resto mod project. Pics and updates to follow soon. On the web side of StreetKORE. The new online store is coming together slowly. It's a lot of work getting everything uploaded and sorted out. The Blog will see more attention now. There's some stuff in the works that I'm eager to share. Stay tuned.

Website Overhaul

Excuse the mess. StreetKORE.net is going through a major overhaul at the moment. I got a wild hair to rip everything apart and start over. Currently StreetKORE's web presence is exploding. The creation of this blog got me motivated to expand other aspects of the Internet Footprint. Which will hopefully work out in the long run. StreetKORE.net is becoming a fully integrated online store. So keep an eye out in the next week for a whole bunch of new products to get launched there. New clothing, parts and accessories are all being added as you read this. The StreetKORE Blog will be a direct extension of the main page, and you can navigate from any page on the main site to here. StreetKORE's Facebook page is also going to be a regularly updated part of the network. That will consist of specific offerings and updates that won't be added to the main site or the blog. Be sure to Like our page to get in on the action. Lastly, we will start making an effort to add some video on You Tube for your viewing pleasure. Weather it be informative, interesting, funny or just plain retarded is yet to be seen. But we'll give it a shot. Keep checking back as there's plenty of new happenings going on over here in the StreetKORE garage.

Project for my buddy Little Mikey. He scored a deal on this very clean example of an 88 Suzuki Savage 650. It was in a 9 out of 10 condition. He rode it around for a few days and then we got the motivation to chop it up. Brat inspired styling cues and a $0 budget for mods. Rear was lowered 2 inches by moving the lower shock mounts, rear fender from a CB400T that was leftover from his Cafe project, I welded up some funky narrow T bars from an old Drag bar that was floating around. Quick tune up and a couple hours reading through www.SuzukiSavage.com for some no cost tuning mods got it running right. Great little bike to bomb around town on. Makes me want one for myself, lol. Still a work in progress. Updates to come.

Let the Blogging Begin

When StreetKORE first started it began as a very simple blog that I started throwing up cool bikes and stories just to contribute to the streetfighter community and not feel like all my time spent online was pointless. That was 3 years ago. Here we are again, firing up another blog with roughly the same intent, but hopefully a little bit more focus. The basic idea this time around, try and keep the goings on around StreetKORE a bit more up to date. Throw in some random happenings from time to time. Still keep a full content list of killer machines and cool motorcycle related stuff. And whatever random goofy stuff seems to fit in the course of a week. So here we go. Be sure to join and follow along. There's plenty of projects in the works back in the shop, More parts, and clothing coming down the pipe, Memory cards full of pics and hard drives full of bikes that defiantly deserve more exposure.
